Kahda WASH Rapid Assessment JULY 2026 · KAHDA DISTRICT, BANADIR · 1,709 PEOPLE REACHED

A two-day rapid assessment examined urgent water, sanitation and hygiene conditions affecting newly displaced families across four informal settlements. The work combined household interviews, community discussions, direct observation and hygiene-promotion sessions.

Water
Limited safe-water access, high costs and insufficient storage containers.
Sanitation
Insufficient and unsafe latrines, poor drainage and open-defecation risks.
Public health
Elevated risks of cholera, acute watery diarrhoea and malaria.

Priority response: safe-water provision, emergency latrines, hygiene kits, hand-washing facilities, waste management and continued community hygiene promotion.

Qandala Drought Rapid Assessment OCTOBER 2022 · BARI REGION · SEVEN COMMUNITIES ASSESSED

TSS worked with local authorities and community leaders to assess humanitarian needs among drought-displaced pastoral families in Balidhidin, Beelwacatay, Canjeel, Ceelgaal, Harago, Tuurmasaale and Unuun.

The assessment identified severe water scarcity, deteriorating food security, livelihood losses and protection risks for families living in exposed conditions. It recommended a coordinated response covering food assistance, safe water, health, nutrition, livelihoods and protection.
