The village of Dhadaar had been living under the constant threat of seasonal rains and

That\u2019s when Tayo Sustainable Solutions (TSS) came in, bringing not just a project, but
hope. Their plan was simple but powerful: build a gabion wall\u2014a barrier of stones
secured in wire mesh\u2014designed to hold back floodwaters and prevent the soil from
eroding. This wall would be Dhadaar\u2019s defense against the floods.
But what happened next was truly remarkable.
A Community Takes Charge
As the TSS team began constructing the wall, something amazing unfolded. The people
of Dhadaar didn\u2019t just stand by watching\u2014they got involved. They saw the importance of
the project, and more than that, they believed in it. Together, they rolled up their sleeves
and worked side by side with TSS.
The gabion wall wasn\u2019t just a construction project; it became a community effort, a

The wall was completed as planned, but the story didn\u2019t end there. The villagers,
realizing how much it could protect them, decided to go even further. On their own,
without any extra funding or outside help, they built an additional five meters of gabion
wall. This extension, done entirely by the community, showed their deep commitment to
making sure their village was safe from future floods.

With the wall completed, the people of Dhadaar could finally breathe a sigh of relief. For
the first time in years, they didn\u2019t have to fear the rainy season. They didn\u2019t have to
worry about floods washing away their homes or their crops. The wall gave them
something precious\u2014security.
Elder Ahmed captured the spirit of the village when he said:
“It is an excellent intervention that will bring enormous benefit to us living in Dhadaar. In
addition to being no longer in danger, we will finally have the chance to start making
long-term plans, instead of having to rebuild everything every year because of floods that
swept away our homes and crops every rainy season.”
A Lesson in Resilience
This project didn\u2019t just protect Dhadaar from floods\u2014it strengthened the community
itself. The villagers took ownership of the solution, proving that when a community
believes in something, they can go beyond expectations and create lasting change.
The gabion wall is now a symbol of resilience. It represents not only a defense against

intervention and the people of Dhadaar\u2019s dedication, the village is now better prepared to
